It’s not exactly the first thing we think of when we talk about the subject of disability, chronic pain, or chronic illness. But, the fact of the matter is that we are all human. Our desires and drives still exist, they just may take a back seat for a while as we adjust to our new normal.
Part of my journey back to this topic came when I was recovering in bed from Lyme Disease. I yearned to expand my world outside of my bedroom, so I did exactly just that-through YouTube, Netflix, books, & movies. One day, I stumbled upon a program called Strange Sex under my recommended docu-series, so I took a look and settled on an episode about Rafe Eric Biggs, founder of the non-profit organization Sexability.org.
His story captured my attention because of the extraordinary abilities he discovered after he took a fall that changed his life forever. Immediately, I knew that I needed to connect with him because of the importance of this topic that leaves many with disabilities, chronic pain, & illness feeling discouraged and cut off from part of their identity. These parts of us need our compassionate healing, too.
In today’s video infusion, Rafe & I get deeper into the topic of how to re-connect with ourselves through these circumstances.
